Mere Sands Wood Planning Application

25th of November, 2024

Mere Sand Wood have submitted a planning application for the following:

  • Extension to overflow car park
  • Erection of agricultural building
  • Installation of log burning stove
  • Replacement sewerage treatment plant
  • Installation of fence to yard area

Following on from the public meeting of August 2023 at Holmeswood Village Hall, we are informing residents there is only one week to object on these planning proposals.

The Parish Council has objected on:

  • Design and Appearance – The building is over 5 metres tall. This expansion in the woodland will reduce openness and be viewed from distance.
  • Ecology – The site is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI). The car park and building are further reducing space for wildlife. The woods are being depleted year on year and no replanting scheme is in place.
  • Green Belt – The fencing will have an impact on openness and ecology, and we suggest planting trees and hedges as an alternative.
  • Highways – Single-track road, leading onto Holmeswood Road. Increasing the car park will cause further problems on the single-track road.
